About the Yale Medical Group

Yale Medical Group (YMG) is one of the largest academic multi-specialty group practices in the United States. Consisting of the full-time and clinically active faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine, our physicians seek to combine a caring, individual approach to patient care with knowledge from cutting edge research and advances within their respective fields.

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to all patients in a comfortable and professional environment. YMG physicians make an extra effort to listen carefully and involve patients in medical decisions that affect their health. Teachers by training, we strive to provide thorough explanations and answers. As physicians responsible for educating tomorrow's doctors, we seek to set the standard for compassionate care. This is complemented by a team approach where specially trained nurses, social workers, technologists and other health care professionals work closely with our physicians to ensure patients and family members have all the necessary support before, during and after their visits.

Integral to the clinical practices of our faculty is medical research, intended to advance knowledge. Patients at Yale often have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and research programs. Some of our researchers are involved in developing new medications, vaccines or other treatments. Others intensively study the human genome to better understand how disease develops and how it might be cured. Still others study the effectiveness of current treatments or conduct clinical trials of innovative treatments not yet widely available to the public.

Innovative multi-disciplinary programs are jointly funded by the Yale University School of Medicine (YSM) and Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) to advance new medical therapies or procedures. Organized around the continuum of care for the patient, these clinical advances seek to improve the quality of life for many patients.
