EducationPh.D., 1985, University of Texas Medical School, Houston, TX Research InterestStudies in Dr. Duman's laboratory are focused on identifying the molecular and cellular adaptations that underlie the actions of psychotropic drugs and stress, including adaptations of receptors, signal transduction proteins, gene transcription factors, and neurotrophic factors. These various types of adaptations contribute both to the damaging effects of stress as well as to the therapeutic actions of psychotropic drug treatment (i.e., antidepressants).
