THE PATIENT ENROUTE TO THE SANITORIUM
The simplest way to reply to the patient's query, "How will I get to the Sanatorium?" would be: "Oh, don't worry about that! We will send you in an official car at no cost." Simple indeed, but how about the wisdom of such a procedure? It seems to be true of many things in life, that we appreciate most those things for which we have struggled most. This is no less true in the search for health. The Nurse who suggests a plan to the family whereby they may secure the services of a friend's car, is helping that family to help themselves. This should always be the ultimate aim of every educational measure. Then, too, the patient who realizes a few of the difficulties encountered in securing Sanatorium care, is likely to think twice before leaving the institution against advice. |
