COOPERATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

THUS far the entire responsibility of the case has been carried by the physician. When a positive diagnosis has been made it becomes his duty to report the case to the Department of Health. Such reports are to be made on special forms pro vided by the Department of Health. Tuberculosis is a communicable disease and therefore becomes the concern of the Department whose function it is to protect the health of the Community. While it is the duty of the physician to report such cases, it is likewise a privilege; for this Department stands ready to offer not only assistance in diagnosis but nursing service as well. If the physician expresses a desire to accept this service, a Public Health Nurse is sent to the home to assist the patient and family in carrying out the physician's orders and to give such instruction as will protect the health of the other members of the family.
