AFTER THE ARRIVAL OF RELIEF!
Next in importance to rest in fighting tuberculosis comes that valuable ally, food. Without an adequate supply, a bodily resistance canot be built up strong enough to overpower the enemy, the tubercle bacillus, which has already invaded the body tissues. Here again, education alone can accomplish the desired results. An income sufficient to buy the right kinds of food will not insure against a return to bad food habits of long standing. Only a true understanding of the body needs will result in an adoption of an adequate dietary. The Public Health Nurse can do a great deal in bringing about this understanding. As has been mentioned the Nutrition Worker and the Public Health Nurse do a great deal to bring about this result. |
