THE PREVENTORIUM
New Haven has a summer camp which is well on its way to becoming a preventorium. Here are found the ideal conditions essential to counteracting early tuberculosis infection. At this camp the child receives proper food and rest. Routine exposure of the body to the rays of the sun is carried out in all cases where recommended. Expert medical and nursing services are constantly at hand. This type of care in childhood may eliminate the necessity for sanatorium treatment in adult life. PLAY Along with Rest, Food and Medical Care, ample provision is made for supervised Play. This is an invaluable means of adjusting a child to the social order in which he lives. Unfortunately, the summer camp is as yet only in operation during the summer months. |
