"X-Ray of child; arrow indicates If the X-Ray is a valuable aid in clinching the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis, it is doubly so in determining the amount of infection that a child has received. In the accompanying X-Ray picture of a child, one can see the first evidence of tuberculosis disease. The usual physical examination would not give evidence of so slight a change in most cases. In spite of the absence of symptoms, such as cough and fever, this child was in a dangerous condition and needed intensive care to build up the resistance and prevent possible breakdown in later years. Adult tuberculosis is often the result of childhood infection. |
