HOW NEW HAVEN CARES FOR TUBERCULOSIS

NEW HAVEN recognizes that tuberculosis is an important community health problem. This is true whether the disease be found in the homes of the well-to-do or in the homes of the less fortunate. Interest is perhaps more keenly alert to those individuals not able to command the resources necessary to put into operation the methods of prevention and cure. For many years there have been active forces at work within the city to provide adequate help for those families wishing it. An effort has also been made to search out those who are unable to meet the problem and who are unfortunately many times the greatest menace to their own families as well as to the community. During the past year, the Department of Health has made a definite effort to coordinate these various activities through its Bureau of Tuberculosis.

The Bureau of Tuberculosis through this joint plan now offers to New Haven residents all of the services that are important in a well rounded anti-tuberculosis program from assistance in diagnosis to the care of contacts. The following descriptive pictures have several lessons to teach and illustrate How New Haven Cares for Tuberculosis.
