Connecting to Yale Resources from Off-Campus
Remote Access Options: VPN Medical Library Proxy
The older Cisco IPSec VPN client remains an option though many users find it much less stable than the AnyConnect option. When using the IPSec client, be sure to use the "Yale wireless and library resources" connection profile to gain full access to Library resources. If you use the VPN to connect to Yale-New Haven Hospital, you will continue to use the Cisco IPSec VPN client for this purpose although you may also install the AnyConnect client for connecting to the university.
Additional information on VPN access can be found on the ITS Yale VPN page

The Medical Library maintains a proxy server that may be used by faculty, students and staff of the Yale School of Medicine AND by employees and affiliates of Yale-New Haven Hospital. While most users should use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN for remote access, these are cases where the proxy server may be the method of choice even for university affiliates. The Offsite Access from Clinical Locations page provides more information on scenarios where the VPN the best remote access option.
You can request a proxy server account by completing the brief online form on the Medical Library Proxy Server signup page.
Central campus Information Technology Services also maintains a proxy server for remote access to Library resources. Like the VPN, this proxy uses the university NetID authentication system. We recommend that medical campus affiliates use either the Medical VPN or the Medical Library Proxy Server but this is also an option for any university affiliate.
Off-campus access to Yale Library electronic resources is available to students, faculty and staff of Yale University as well as Yale-New Haven Hospital employees and medical staff.
These options do not provide access to Yale-New Haven Hospital clinical applications. Contact the YNHH Help Desk (203) 688-HELP/hlpdesk@ynhh.com or consult the Yale ITS YNHH Access page to learn about access options to clinical systems.
