Foley Family Foundation Fellowship

The Foley Family Foundation Fellowship selects one HMP student interested in aging policy and management for a scholarship funding half of the student’s tuition.

The 2006-2007 Foley Family Foundation Fellow, Alice Jo, had the opportunity to work collaboratively with leading experts in the field of aging health policy.  Jo completed a practicum experience with the University of Connecticut Center on Aging and the State of Connecticut Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman.  She participated in the Long Term Care Ombudsman’s extensive program analysis.  The work entailed researching the structure and capacity of ombudsman programs in various states through interaction with other state ombudsmen; conducting a comprehensive literature review of existing programs and research; interviewing residents residing in long term care facilities; preparing a final report; and giving a presentation to the State of Connecticut Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman.
