Prevention of Drug Overdoses

EMD faculty and students have been working to develop innovative strategies for preventing drug overdoses. Studies conducted in the United States have found that drug users and former drug users trained to recognize overdose symptoms were as accurate in their diagnosis as medical professionals. Furthermore, they were able to determine when it was appropriate to administer the life–saving drug naloxone. Future studies plan to focus on overdose prevention in St. Petersburg., Russia.
