SDP Executive Director Dr. M. Ann Levett Appointed to New Haven Board of Education
New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. appointed SDP Executive Director Dr. M. Ann Levett to the New Haven Board of Education and swore her in at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. She will serve through 2011.
"I am delighted to be considered and honored to serve my community in this way," Dr. Levett said. "I hope to be able to contribute positively to insuring a good future for children in New Haven and surrounding areas."
"Dr. Levett will provide the excellent knowledge and experience all school boards need--instructional, behavioral, administrative, and fiscal," said Dr. James P. Comer. "It is a wise and wonderful appointment."
"Dr. Levett brings to the board exceptional experience as a leader in education and a great innovator," said Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. "She is a valuable resource whom we look forward to working with as we continue to elevate the quality of New Haven Public Schools, making them exceptional environments for student success."
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Mayo said he is excited to gain such an experienced educator. "Dr. Levett has broad experience at the national level that will benefit New Haven greatly," he said. "Her experiences in everything from developing leadership capacity for principals to addressing student behavioral issues will bring great knowledge and insight to our work. We are very excited to have her aboard."
