Steps for Joining the School Development Program

1.  Learn about the SDP Process.
We recommend that you start by browsing our online program description and our SDP publications. For more details on SDP programs and services, please visit our Professional Development & Consultation Services and Learning, Teaching & Development Services pages.

2.  Read through the SDP Participation Requirements:

  • Minimum of four schools and district level participation in SDP systemic reform.
  • A Planning Year/Entry Process that builds support and designs implementation.
  • A multi-year (at least five years) commitment by the Board of Education, one that survives changes in the superintendent.
  • The establishment of a District Steering Committee to monitor faithful replication of SDP in schools and to drive necessary central office changes.
  • Selection of a District SDP Process Facilitator who reports to the superintendent, with dedicated time to do the job.
  • Fulfill required activities during the Planning/Entry Year, Year One and Year Two. Years Three through Five will depend on those first three years. Subsequent steps will be worked out with SDP and District staff.
