Explore

 

Encourage young children to ask questions. When he asks “Why” answer with an open-ended question that encourages more thought. Listen to the child and compliment his ideas. Share some of your ideas with him.

Talk to a child about the way things work. Explain some of the things you do and machines you use in a day: preparing food, washing clothes or driving a car.

Take a child on a hike and explore the world you live in: the backyard, the beach, woods and gardens. Talk about where you go and what you see. Bring a pail for any collectable's. Let the child go at his own pace.

Explore museums, a zoo, ride a bus, attend a story time at a local library, visit an art gallery, check with local towns for any special programs they offer.
